Since the 70’s this Moroccan artist shows solidarity with Palestine in her art.

Latifa Toujani (born in 1948) is one of the first Moroccan women to become known as a modern artist. Since the early 1970s, her work has focused on powerful themes like resistance, women’s rights, and support for the people of Palestine. She played an important role in the development of modern art in Morocco.
This photo was taken in 1972 by fellow artist Mohamed Melehi. It shows Toujani standing in her art studio in Rabat, next to one of her most important artworks about Palestine.
Toujani is seen today as a pioneer in Moroccan modern art, especially as a woman who broke new ground.
